Old Fashioned Peanut Butter Cookies

Ingredients

  • 2 and 1/2 cups Flour
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1 cup Margarine
  • 1 cup Peanut Butter (creamy or chunky)
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar (firmly packed)
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1: 

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Step 2:

Stir together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. set aside.

Step 3:

In large bowl with mixer at medium speed, beat margarine and peanut butter until smooth.

Step 4:

Beat in sugars until blended, then eggs and vanilla. Add flour mixture; beat until well blended. If necessary, chill dough.

Step 5:

Shape into 1 inch balls. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Flatten slightly and decorate with candied cherries or flatten with fork dipped in colored sugars.

Step 6:

Bake at 350 degrees for 12 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove from cookie sheets. Cool on rack. Makes 6 dozen.
