Instant Pot Rice

The Instant Pot is a great rice cooker.  This recipe works well for most types of rice, including Long Grain White Rice and Jasmine Rice.  I use the Instant Pot Non-Stick Ceramic Inner Pot when cooking rice.  The general formula that I use for cooking rice in the Instant Pot is 1 cup of rice to 1 cup of water/stock with 1 tbsp of butter.  I like to use chicken stock to give the rice a little more flavor.  You can use chicken stock instead of water completely, but be careful not to over-salt the rice.  The recipe below is for 2 cups of rice.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Rice
  • 1 cup Chicken Stock
  • 1 cup Water
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • To Taste SPG Seasoning (salt, pepper, garlic)

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1:

Rinse the rice using cold water until it runs clear.  I usually do this in a small bowl with a strainer over the top that prevents any rice from spilling out.

Step 2:

Add the water, chicken stock, butter, and seasoning to the Instant Pot.  Turn on the Instant Pot to Saute to melt the butter and get the liquid hot.

Step 3:

Add the rice to the Instant Pot and stir to mix everything well.  Press Cancel on the Instant Pot, put on the lid, and set the Instant Pot to Pressure Cook on High for 3 minutes.

Step 4:

After the three-minute cook has been completed, let the Instant Pot do a Natural Release for 10 minutes.  Open the pressure valve to completely depressurize the Instant Pot, remove the lid, and fluff the rice with a fork.
