Mushroom Turnover Appetizers

Ingredients

Dough

  • 9 oz Cream Cheese (3 – 3 oz packages at room temperature)
  • 1/2 cup Butter (room temperature)
  • 1.5 cups Flour

Mushroom Filling

  • 3 tbsp Butter
  • 1 Onion (finely chopped)
  • 1/2 lb Mushrooms (finely chopped)
  • 1/2 tsp Tyme
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • to taste Black Pepper
  • 2 tbsp Flour
  • 1/4 cup Sour Cream

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1: 

Mix cream cheese and butter thoroughly.

Step 2:

Add flour and work with pastry blender or mixer until smooth. Chill for 30 minutes.

Step 3:

Preheat oven to 450 degrees.

Step 4:

Melt the butter in a skillet, add onion and brown lightly.

Step 5:

Add the mushrooms and cook for about 3 minutes stirring often.

Step 6:

Add seasonings and sprinkle with flour.

Step 7:

Stir in sour cream and cook until thickened. Remove from heat.

Step 8:

When dough has been chilled for 30 minutes take it out of the refrigerator and roll it on a floured surface. Cut it into 3 inch rounds.

Step 9:

Place teaspoon of filling in center and fold over. Press edges with fork tines and prick the top for steam to escape.

Step 10:

Arrange on a baking sheet and bake at 450 degrees for 15 minutes.
