Ingredients
Cookie
- 1 cup Sugar
- 6 Eggs
- 2 tsp Anise Extract
- 5 cups Flour
- 7 tsp Baking Powder
- 2 sticks Butter
Icing
- 3/4 cup Powdered Sugar
- 2 tsp Water
- 1 tsp Lemon Extract (or anise extract or vanilla extract)
Step by Step Instructions
Step 1:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Step 2:
Beat eggs and anise extract together and set aside.
Step 3:
Cream butter and sugar, then add egg mixture, add flour and baking powder a little at a time. If dough is too soft add more flour. Let dough rest 15 minutes.
Step 4:
Break off pieces of dough and roll into 4 inch rope and make a knot.
Step 5:
Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Cookie is cooked when bottoms are browned. Top does not usually brown.
Step 6:
Mix icing ingredients together in a bowl and apply to cookies when cooled. Makes approximately 24 cookies.
