Place flour on a board and make a well in the center. Put the baking powder, shortening, and eggs into the well. Combine with the flour a little at a time until all the flour is incorporated. Kneed the dough until elastic. |

Break off a piece and form into a sausage roll the diameter of a pencil. Cut into pea size pieces. Place in oil and deep fry until they rise and become golden. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Continue until all dough is consumed. |

In a pot, heat honey and sugar until sugar is melted and the mixture turns golden. Remove from heat. |

Turn pignolata into pot and gently stir with a wooden spoon to thoroughly coat with honey - sugar mixture. |

With wooden spoon remove the pignolata and place on buttered dishes, shaping into wreaths. Be careful not to burn yourself with the hot honey - sugar mixture. Sprinkle wreaths with jimmies and set aside to cool. |
